nara members educate, motivate during “day on the hill”
Alexandria, VA – Members of the National Aircraft Resale Association (NARA) called on Senate and House offices, conducting more than 60 congressional meetings during its fifth annual “Day on the Hill” on Tuesday, February 26, 2008.

The event kicked off on Monday afternoon with keynote speaker Edward H. Kammerer, partner, Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP, who discussed 2008 bonus depreciation issues impacting NARA members and their clients. Participants also reviewed key talking points regarding the FAA user fees proposal.

Thus equipped, some 20 members from 10 states visited more than 60 congressional offices to make their case regarding the proposal, asking their elected official not to endorse the President’s plan to fund the FAA through user fees.

Returning from the Hill, NARA members expressed enthusiasm that their message was heard. “Coming to Washington to speak directly with our government representatives is a highly effective way to get our message across,” said one NARA participant. “We are helping to ensure that legislators hear GA’s unified voice on the user fees issue.”

NARA President Susan Sheets commented, “NARA’s Day on the Hill is a powerful tool for giving voice to our members in Washington. Based on the success of these past five years, we expect continued good results from this kind of effort.”
